Balsall & Berkswell Hornets FC U10 Colts Fixture Result and Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
12/12/2009 League Fenny Compton 6 v 0 B & B Colts U10

Colts were again away today to Fenny Compton who they had played earlier in the season. It was a cold but bright morning. Colts were without Pierce who was not well – and were nearly without Sam La and Jacob who decided to take a more scenic route and nearly missed the start of the match. The supporters were delighted to find that light refreshments were provided which helped make the chilly weather a little more bearable.

Fenny Compton started attacking from the off – but Colts were defending well with Steven being quick to the ball and clearing well. Colts also were able to attack – they earned a corner and Daniel had a shot which was blocked by the keeper. Then during a Fenny Compton attack one of their players was fouled in the area and they were awarded a penalty, however the shot was wide and the Colts supporters breathed a sigh of relief.

Colts were still pushing forwards but could not get the ball far enough up field for anyone to take a shot on goal. When Fenny Compton attacked however Colts were ready – Sam Lo was tackling and clearing the ball and Steven was working hard. James made some great saves as Colts survived a series of corners. Liam came on and as ever was covering a lot of ground and looking determined. Just before half time however there was a lapse in the Colts defence and a striker broke through to make it 1-0.

In the second half Colts were playing well – but soon after the restart Fenny Compton broke and scored to make it 2-0. Colts did not let their heads go down and tried to make some attacks- however Fenny Compton then intercepted a goal kick and scored to make it 3-0 and later scored again to make it 4-0. Colts were still defending hard – Thomas made a great run back to prevent an attack and Liam and Steven were working hard but could not get the ball forward enough to mount any real attacks. Fenny Compton were often quicker to the ball but Colts were doing well and if one player did lose the ball another Colts player was there to scoop it up.

Fenny Compton scored again as the ball was deflected off a striker and into the net. In the last few minutes of the game Liam had a chance but his shot went wide. However from a Fenny Compton corner the ball just caught a Colts defender to go in as an own goal and make the final score 6-0.

Man of the match – Steven
Best Effort - Liam
