Balsall & Berkswell Hornets FC U10 Colts Fixture Result and Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
6/2/2010 League B & B Colts U10 1 v 6 Leamington Juniors

Colts had their first match of the year – finally on 6 February. For the first time since mid December the pitch was not snow-covered, frozen or waterlogged. The Colts had a full squad and were raring to go.

Colts started with a slightly different formation to before. They started off quite well – quite early on Daniel had a shot that went wide and Jacob struck a corner well but it hit the side netting. Leamington were soon on the attack – Colts survived a goal mouth scramble but James got a knock in the clearing the ball. Leamington were attacking in earnest now – Liam cleared the ball off the line – but then Leamington finally got a shot in to make it 1-0.

Leamington were now in control of the match – James was still making fine saves and Steven was making some good tackling in defence. Leamington then scored twice more to make it 3-0. Colts did have some chances – Sam La had a shot that went straight to the keeper, Jacob made a good run down the wing and crossed the ball into Liam who just shot it wide. Just before half time though Jacob again made a great run up the wing – passed the ball to Daniel who crossed it in Sam La in the box who scored to make it 3-1.

In the second half Colts seemed more in the game to start with and for a long time held off the Leamington attacks. However the Colts defence were caught napping as three Leamington attacker made it through and James had no hope with 3 on 1. However as the half went on Colts could not get back in the game despite the fresh legs of Nathan and Thomas who worked hard in midfield and despite some fine saves from James the final score was 6-1.

Man of the match – Steven
Best effort - Liam
