WANTED: Club Chairman
| 29/9/2009 - Latest News |
Balsall and Berkswell Football Club is looking for a new chairman with ambition and vision. The club was founded as a men’s team in 1949, and has had a vibrant and growing junior section since the 1970s. This year, we have 18 teams ranging from U8s to adults playing in leagues throughout Coventry, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. We are proud to have achieved FA Community Charter Standard status, the very highest accolade for grassroots football clubs in the UK.
Among the key challenges for the club are securing funds for the development of our new ground in Balsall Common, establishing and maintaining links with our key partners (like Solihull MBC, parish councils and the Lions), and fostering greater community engagement and participation in grassroots football. We are keen to develop opportunities for disabled footballers.
We are looking for someone with a close association with Balsall Common and a passion for contributing to the local community. We want to be more outward looking, and would ideally like our new Chair to be someone from outside the club.
We particularly welcome candidates with experience in fund raising via charitable or other grants. Experience of playing, coaching or organising football is not required. This non-remunerated role is strategic rather than operational, and is well supported by a dedicated and hard-working group of coaches, club officers and volunteers.
If you would like more information or an informal chat about the role, please contact:
