Balsall & Berkswell Hornets FC U16 Mid Warwick Fixture Result and Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
29/11/2009 League Fenny Compton 1 v 1 Balsall & Berkswell

away again this week, this time at fenny compton with just about enough players to make a team with several players away, however as proven in the past the hornets knuckled down with what they had and with the pitch conditions heavy battled really well and were creating plenty of chances, ben hodges, jon butrick and james langton all going close to scoring. fenny were pushing as well and did manage to srike the hornets croosbar with a fierce drive, from this balsall went straight up the other end and then themselves hitting the woodwork, half time loomed and the scores remained level 0-0
second half and we used our only sub with luke wilkins coming on for a very tired and now injured alex pavey. the hornets continued to battle and got thier well earned reward when luke made a run down the left and hit a sweet leftooted strike sraight at the keeper, the ball however somehow managed to slip through his hands and into the net 1-0
with the hornets in control they nearly added to their tally but with the pitch conditions getting worse found it hard to convert their chances. with about 20 minutes to go a rare fenny compton attack caught us out a little and we found ourselves conceding a very unfortunate penalty with the fenny compton forward judged to have been brought down on the egde of the box
fenny converted to make it 1-1 and this is how the score remained although the hornets were still pushing for the winner it just wasn't to be.
the whole team played really well today with everyone giving maximum effort
special mention for mark hawkswood and james butler who who were outstanding
mark hawkswood earnt man of the match for his exellent display in defence
