Date Type Team S v S Team
22/11/2009 League Hornets 0 v 3 Bromsgrove Blades

Wet Wet Wet............

What a frustrating and disappointing morning. Sadly we ended up with the worst of the weather and the boys did well to simply stay the course.

The match started similarly to last week with both teams reasonably well matched although our defence was just the busier. However Chris. Mike and Ben withstood whatever was thrown at them. Luke and James hassled and harried in midfield but struggled to get a passing game together, due in no small part to the driving rain. We had a couple of good breaks and were unlucky when an excelently struck shot went straight at their keeper. The big positive was that the boys did try to pass to each other and clearly had listened to some of saturdays coaching! The attacking instincts of the team were our undoing as the boys were caught too far up the field and Bromsgrove went into the break 1 up.

Despite being very wet and cold our enthusiasm was undimmed and we started the second half with total belief that we could score and go on to win. Unfortunately we just could not find our rythm and despite some good saves from James they struck twice to go 3 ahead. James then made an excellent save but hurt himself in the process and Ben voluntered to keep for the last 10 mins. Sam, Luke and Ollie tried to turn defense into attack but we could not get any clear chances.

When the final whistle came all of the boys were just happy to be able to go and get a hot bath and warm up! This was by far the worst conditions that we have played in and a big well done to the boys for battling through it and to all our supporters for your equal suffering!

Many thanks also to everyone for dismateling the goals and respect Barrier and leaving them by my car. It is really fantastic that you all pitch in so much as it makes match days so much easier. A big thanks from Nick and I.

For his great covering and all round display the man of the match was Luke.
